In today’s Gospel (Matthew 16:13-19), we read about Peter’s profession of faith. By our baptism we accept that Jesus Christ is the “Son of the living God”. Peter was the rock on which Jesus built his Church. Today, Jesus expects us, His followers, to continue Peter’s work.

GCL media release: Let’s stop crime, not lives!

gcflifeThe Greater Caribbean for Life (GCL) urges the Government of the Bahamas to find non-lethal means to promote the safety and security of citizens.  GCL condemns the rise of violent crime in our region and expresses solidarity with victims. However, we reject the notion that capital punishment will act as a deterrent or foster respect for life in our communities.

Civil society in the Greater Caribbean calls on governments to stop crime, not lives

On 10 October 2013, 11th World Day Against the Death Penalty, the Greater Caribbean for Life has called on governments of countries that retain the death penalty in the Greater Caribbean to urgently and effectively tackle crime, but without resort to the death penalty.
