2015 CCSJ Way of the Cross

ccsjwotcrossThe United Nations’ General Assembly proclaimed February 20 as World Day of Social Justice in 2007, inviting Member States to devote the day to promoting national activities in accordance with the objectives and goals of the World Summit for Social Development and the twenty-fourth session of the General Assembly.
Observance of World Day of Social Justice should support efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, gender equity and access to social well-being and justice for all.
The reality of World Day of Social Justice within the context of Lent is commemorated through reflections on our individual reactions to human pain, suffering and indignity within the analogy of Jesus’ Passion. Can we by our interactions with our neighbours, class mates, teachers, loved ones, co-workers, mirror Christ, mirror a solution to the injustices among us?

CCSJ Prayer on World Aids Day (December 1)

wad ribbon“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matt 11: 29-30)

Lord we take cognisance of the fact that, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, an estimated 35 million people are living with HIV and AIDS worldwide and that more than 25 million people have died globally from HIV and AIDS since 1981.

Heavenly Father, we beseech you to provide comfort and hope to those who are infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. Strengthen them and journey with them in their time of need. Holy Spirit, inspire us all to work to eliminate stigma and discrimination which continue to undermine prevention, treatment and care of persons living with HIV and AIDS and to promote the dignity of each human person.

We pray also for those individuals and organisations that strive to meet the physical, mental, spiritual, and economic needs of persons living with HIV and AIDS. We pray also for those who work tirelessly to find possible cures for HIV and AIDS and for those who have died of AIDS, may their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

Praying the Divine Mercy Rosary, with reflections on Sacred Spaces and Social Justice Prayers

CCSJ embarked on a Project to take photographs of the interior and exterior of all Catholic Churches and some Chapels in our Archdiocese. One of our goals is to remind Catholics that our Churches and Chapels are sacred spaces. We used the photographs as a backdrop against which members of staff at The Chancery were taped  while they prayed the Divine Mercy Rosary.
