On Thursday, March 8, International Women’s Day (IWD), I delivered an address to students at St Joseph’s Convent, St Joseph on one of the International Women’s Day themes: Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures. The UN theme for IWD 2012 is: Empower rural women – end hunger and poverty.

Statement of the Working Committee of the Greater Caribbean for Life

From October 17th  to 19th  a group of organizations and individuals from countries of the Greater Caribbean opposed to the application of the capital punishment participated in the International Conference on the Death Penalty in the Great Caribbean organized in Madrid by the Community of Sant’ Edigio.

Report from Death Penalty Conference

The Community of Sant’Egidio invited me to attend The First International Conference on The Death Penalty in the Great Caribbean. It was held in Madrid from 17 – 19 October, 2011 and was organized in collaboration with the International Commission Against the Death Penalty, the International Academic Network for the Abolition of Capital Punishment, the Bar Association of Puerto Rico, The Puerto Rican Coalition Against The Death Penalty, and the Death Penalty Project. The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation sponsored the Conference.

CCSJ congratulates graduates of Social Justice online course

On Friday 9th September, five of the seven persons who completed the 2010 Social Justice online course with the University of Dayton (UD) – in partnership with CREDI – The Catholic Institute, and CCSJ, graduated at St Finbar’s Auditorium along with those who had completed their Masters in Educational Leadership course with UD.

Leela Ramdeen, Chair of CCSJ, presented the five students and recommended them to receive certification to Dr Kevin Kelly, Dean of UD’s School of Education.  Sr Angela Zukowski, Director for the Institute for Pastoral Initiatives, presented each student with his/her Certificate.
