The Archdiocese Ministry of Migrants and Refugees, in collaboration with the Counter Trafficking Unit and other national authorities are seeking persons interested in volunteering to be a part of an alternative care programme to support children in need of temporary shelter.
What is Alternative Care?
Alternative care is an umbrella term used to describe the care provided for children by caregivers who are not their biological parents. The programme has been launched as an interim measure, to support unaccompanied and separated children. At the same time, assessments will be conducted and/or appropriate long-term solutions will be sought in the best interests of the child.
Interested persons should:
- Have a strong desire to nurture and care for children;
- Have adequate and appropriate housing;
- Have experience and skills in dealing with children; and
- Be willing to undergo security background check and attend training together with members of their household.
REGISTER by completing this form as either a “Caregiver” (a person who will provide direct care for a child within their home for a specific period) or a “Care Supporter” (a person who will provide support to a child who is living independently or semi-independently).
