UN World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

CCSJ joined Arrive Alive on Sunday 21 Nov. to mark UN World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. CCSJ’s Richard Smith and team joined the walk from Mosquito Creek – outside Paria Suites – to Godineau Bridge. There were also two other ‘walks’ – one in Port of Spain and the other in Tobago.

Fr Joe’s Gospel Reflection Nov 21 – The Solemnity of Christ the King

Gospel: Lk 23:35-43

The rulers sneered at Jesus and said, “He saved others, let him save himself if he is the chosen one, the Christ of God.” Even the soldiers jeered at him. As they approached to offer him wine they called out, “If you are King of the Jews, save yourself.”  Above him there was an inscription that read, “This is the King of the Jews.”

Respecting all women

I returned recently from London where I participated in two conferences. Lord Dilgit Rana, President of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO International), organised the first conference which focussed on: The Indian Diaspora’s role in the new economic world order.

Fr Joe’s Gospel Reflection Nov 14 – 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)

Gospel: Lk. 21, 5 – 19

While some people were speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings, Jesus said, “All that you see here–the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.” Then they asked him, “Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?”

Combating Diabetes

Today is World Diabetes Day. The theme selected for World Diabetes Day 2009-2013 is: Diabetes education and prevention. More needs to be done to raise awareness of diabetes; equip those affected by improving their knowledge of the disease and of ways of preventing complications; and share strategies for prevention.
