Keeping God centre-stage

Prayer must be an integral part of our daily lives as Catholics. “Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God, or the requesting of good things from God” (Catechism, 2559). Prayer brings us closer to God and helps us as we strive to do His Will. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI reminded us in Charity in Truth that “without God man neither knows which way to go, nor even understands who he is…. ‘Apart from me you can do nothing’” (Jn 15:5). But Jesus promised us: “…Know that I am with you always, yes, to the end of time” (Mt 28:20). I hold fast to this promise as I pray.

T&T’s Draft National Policy on Gender and Development

by Leela Ramdeen, Chair, CCSJ and Director, CREDI

During the Year of Faith, we are called more than ever to be defenders of our faith – of the “truth” about man and woman, each made in the image and likeness of God, each with a moral order imprinted in our minds – a moral order that guides us as we seek to promote the sanctity of life and the dignity of the human person and to build the common good. We are called to SEE–JUDGE–ACT from a Catholic perspective – recognising that in a world in which moral relativism threatens to overwhelm us, we have to find ways to make our voices heard in the marketplace.

Sharing Catholic Social Teaching in St Maarten

DOWNLOAD WORKSHOP SESSIONS

On Sunday evening I returned to T&T after conducting a workshop in St Maarten (Dutch side) on Friday and Saturday. After leaving St Maarten I got a connecting flight from Antigua to T&T via St Lucia. We boarded in Antigua and had to wait on board for a tyre to be changed. Then in St Lucia we waited on board again as the plane had to be re-fuelled.

When we finally arrived in T&T a few of us discovered that our suitcases were “missing”. After completing the necessary forms, I left the airport wondering if this was a regular occurrence with LIAT. I do hope I will be reunited with my suitcase as all my important documents etc are in it.

50 years of Pacem in Terris

Today would have been my mother’s birthday. She would have been 84 years old. She passed away in 1995 and each year we mark her birthday in a special way.

Recently, someone sent me a YouTube link with a clip taken from an interview with my father last year when we celebrated our 50th Anniversary of Independence. The clip is entitled: Love and Independence.
